What do parents and teachers have to say
about the online dictionary?
This website is "phantastisch!"
Having students include their own drawings, makes it unique and even more
fascinating. This is a resource that all foreign language teachers can use!
I am planning on having my own students go over the vocabulary and take
the quizzes for each unit that I cover. Perhaps it will motivate them into
doing a similar project. Being able to create a website is becoming a necessary
skill for all students and these students have already learned basic website
design while learning their foreign language.

The website developed by Jeremy and his students is great! It will be an easy to use resource for the students to access, especially the seventh graders who have the laptops next year. The way the website is set up enables the students to explore and find information on their own without much teacher guidance. I think this will be a great resource for the students when they are required to do work at home. Great job!

An inspirational educational resource for students and teachers alike -- Students teaching students - is this not our goal?
- Jennifer Decker, French teacher
I, as a parent am very impressed with this project. I believe it gives the kids the opportunity to learn how to make a website while learning a foreign language. It also gets the kids excited about learning. Seeing their work on a webpage and being able to share it with the world is great. It also shows kids that working in a group can help them think more creatively and to work as a team.

I wanted to thank you for inspiring our 6th graders this year. Every project and assignment has been creative and fun, and as a result an entire class is excited about languages! I've been especially impressed with your website and its foreign language dictionaries. My son has embraced the project whole-heartedly. He has enjoyed the chance to work with other students in this project. They have teamed through the entire process of choosing words to translate, creating illustrations, thinking of clever tricks for remembering words, and creating fun games for their website page. Who would have thought that preparing a French dictionary could be so much fun for a 6th grade boy! My sister's family is living in Germany right now. I gave her the website address and her son, Pat, who is also in 6th grade was amazed. He has studied German for three years and was intrigued by the German dictionaries that our middle schoolers designed. He has spoken with his teacher and they are now working on a similar project of their own!
Thank you once again Jeremy, for being so accessible to us and to your students. Your use of technology has been a tremendous link and I appreciate that you are brave enough to inspire our kids to use this valuable tool in so many ways. The dictionary website has given them the experience to create information for the web as well as to access the information that is out there for them. They hunger to learn and you have brought them an all-you-can-eat buffet. Wowza! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

I'm impressed! They are colorful and attractive and I'm sure kids enjoy both creating them, and re-visiting them. I especially like the assessment piece, where kids can review their knowledge. In addition, I love the idea of student choice, placing the learning in their hands and making it personal. Personal learning is always more meaningful and interesting! I think the project is excellent!
